The Philippines
The Philippine Islands are made up of more than 7,000 small islands
and most of the inhabitants of these islands live in poverty with little
or no medical care
Bread For A Hungry World has supported Medical-Dental clinics in the
Philippines for several years. This ministry is conducted by Christians
from Southeast Asia who volunteer their time and talent. It is coordinated
by MARCH (Medical Action Relief for Counseling and Healing), a Church
of Christ organization..
While providing this care in clinics, the people treated are given Bibles
and invited to have Bible studies. In May this year 3,000 people were
treated and 1,800 studies were set up. Usually 300 to 400 people will
be brought to Christ as a result.
The next scheduled medical mission will be in Mindanao. It will be conducted
either this October (’07) or in May 2008. The final date will
depend upon available funds.
