Campamento, Honduras

Honduras is the poorest country in Central America and th earea around Campamento is one of severe poverty. Sixty percent of Honduran women are "single women with children" and live in destitute conditions.

Bread provides free childcare for single mothers in Campamento so they can work and support themselves. We care for 40 to 45 children between the ages of two and seven years. The overall annual cost for the childcare is $37,200.

Bread also provides powdered milk for 1,200 school children each day. The milk is distributed by teachers in the public schools, grades 1-3. Inflation has raised the cost of milk from $50,000 to $60,000 this coming year.
